What is Qigong? (Chee-Gong)
Qigong is a powerful way to be in the moment and cultivate a practice of growing ourselves and flowering right where we are. Through awareness of the breath and meditative movement, the nervous system moves into a state of deep relaxation. The mind calms down. All the excess clutter -- those things that we think matter but really don't -- is cleared away and understandings that we weren't even aware of come up to the surface: clarity, focus, harmony, a new sense of purpose and meaning.
Tabitha originally began studying taichi and qigong in the 90's but became serious about it during her medical training at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine where she studied many forms. She also became certified in 1000 Hands Buddha form at that time via the Ling Gui International School. Soon after she went through an intensive training spanning several years of the 8 basic forms from the Mogadao Institute and became certified in the Morning Medical Qigong form.
Her current style draws from these influences as well as her studies in yoga, body mechanics and her knowledge of the body energetics and bodywork.

"Qigong is the bodily experience of [the original] soul -
and the soulful experience of the body."
-Zhen Zan Dao
Morning Medical Qigong, was created by Zhenzan Dao from a state of necessity and crisis and is the core form of the Mogadao system. Plagued with chronic fatigue so debilitating that at times Zhenzan could not get out of bed, Zhenzan eventually discovered qigong through his acupuncturist and went to China to seek help. Morning Medical was born from the most nourishing forms that nursed Zhenan back to health and vibrant life.
The Uniqueness of the Mogadao System is in the transitions (which prevent the loss of "qi" so essential to delicate and recovering constitutions), and its rich archetypal imagery. Each form has physical, emotional, and spiritual meanings that cover the breadth of life experience and carry tools for coping with the health and mental-emotional challenges to living life fully and authentically.
Tabitha is a certified Mogadao Morning Medical instructor. She incorporates her knowledge of medical qigong in privates sessions and Impower Healing - which is the online coaching and educational branch of her work. She also does occasional workshops in the Portland area.
